HABITS OR SKILLS THAT I PICKED UP AT COLLEGE THAT SURPRISE ME
· · ─ ·ʚɞ· ─ · ·
When I first started college, I didn’t really expect to pick up any new habits or skills outside of my studies. But looking back, I’m actually surprised at how much I’ve learned just by going through daily college life.
One habit I picked up is being more organized with my time. Back in school, I used to procrastinate a lot and somehow still got away with it. But in college, deadlines come so fast, and there are always multiple things to juggle. At first, I struggled, but slowly I developed the habit of planning my tasks, making small to-do lists, and not leaving everything to the last minute. It surprised me because I never thought I’d be the type to actually plan things out.
Another skill I picked up is speaking up more. I used to be the kind of person who stayed quiet in class, even when I was confused. But college forced me out of that shell a bit. I learned to ask questions, participate in group work, and share my opinions more openly. That really surprised me because I never thought I’d gain that kind of confidence.
I also picked up simple skills like managing stress and balancing my social life with studies. Sometimes it’s just knowing when to take a break, go out with friends, or watch a movie so I don’t burn out. Honestly, those little things matter more than I expected.
So yeah, college has definitely surprised me. It’s not just about academic learning—it’s about discovering habits and skills I didn’t know I was capable of. And I think those are the things that will stick with me even after college.
This is so relatable. College really does push us to grow in ways we don’t expect. Love how you mentioned becoming more organised and confident and that’s inspiring.
